Description
Samsung MZ-77E4T0B/AM 4TB SATA 2.5" SSD
The MZ-77E4T0B/AM is the 870 EVO at 4TB, as far as Samsung goes in this series in the 2.5-inch size. It's an internal SATA drive running at 6Gb/s, built to the SFF shape every desktop cage and laptop bay is cut for. Four terabytes on one SATA connection changes the arithmetic when a machine is already carrying two or three smaller disks. Fitting it needs nothing beyond the usual data and power pair.
Key Features
- 4TB of capacity, the largest size Samsung offers in the 870 EVO range
- 6Gb/s SATA, listed as the drive's maximum data transfer rate
- 2.5-inch SFF body, the standard fitting for desktop cages, laptop bays and NAS trays
- Internal drive carrying Samsung's part number MZ-77E4T0B/AM
- RoHS and WEEE compliant, and marked eco-friendly
- Solid state throughout, with no motor drawing power or making noise
Performance and Applications
Two 2TB drives do the same job as one 4TB drive, and they cost you two bays, two SATA ports, and two power connectors to manage. Swapping the pair for a single 870 EVO hands all of that back. Small form factor desktops gain the most, because bays run out quickly in those cases. One large volume is also easier to live with than two, with no deciding what goes where and no second drive letter to remember.
Compatibility and Installation
You'll need a free SATA port and a 2.5-inch mounting point, or a bracket if the cage is built for 3.5-inch drives. Older controllers and BIOS versions carry volume size limits that a 4TB drive can hit on an ageing board. Clone everything across in one pass before you pull the old disks out.
Samsung MZ-77E4T0B/AM 4TB SSD for Consolidating Multiple Drives
For a machine cluttered with smaller disks, this brings the lot back onto one drive. 4TB behind a single SATA cable, in the 870 EVO's biggest capacity and a standard 2.5-inch body.
